Grey Mare Hut: Grid reference 8525 - 1S JAGUNGAL 202918

The present day Grey Mare Hut is an rebuild of the original miners hut. It is located on the eastern slopes of the Grey Mare Range, approximately 500m above the valley floor of Back Flat Creek. It is a great hut in a fairly remote location with basic rustic wooden bunks and open fireplace. It is important when venturing out this way, summer or winter to be equipped with your own tent and other essential gear for overnight camping as the huts may be full and cannot be relied on for accommodation. Many people prefer to tent it, as native marsupials also find the huts a great place to live, especially in winter
